Exactly. It could be "an extension". It could be something they did to make sure everyone else in the league and agents knew he was in charge, but they can easily get out of the contract.
I won't be super pissed or anything if he is retained, but I definitely feel its the wrong decision and just delaying the inevitable.

I won't be pissed, but I will certainly lose even more faith in this franchise to improve. At some point, I may even start hoping that Rita gets control.
ETA: Hell, Rita's lawyer's should use retaining Dell Derps as evidence at Tom's competency hearings.

The Pelicans will improve regardless of who the GM is. As long as AD is here and they put a team together to build around him through free agency and the draft they'll be in the playoffs.
They can't say that this season with the amount of injuries they have including ADs and the talent surrounding AD. I mean Douglas was playing in China last year for fricks sake.

Moar excuses for Dell Derps! We end up counting on guys who belong overseas because Derps blows his load and over pays for marginal starters on the reg. Jrue is his best find and even that deal was questionable.
