Why wouldnt he be? Injuries have kill this team which should result in Demps getting a pass THIS SEASON. He'll get one more year to prove it and see what he can do this free agency period

Whether he should or shouldn't be is separate from if he will.

Given all the trade reports from guys like Lowe, GM's were unclear who was in charge and it was reported Loomis handcuffed Demps in at least one major way with our upcoming draft pick during the trade deadline.

That doesn't suggest to me a healthy and trusting relationship.....I would bet if the season ended tomorrow Demps would be gone....If we go on a run and make some noise in the playoffs? Maybe he gets his leash extended into next season but even then I would be skeptical.

Stick to talking about football. Whenever you retards at WWL attempt to talk basketball it's painful.

Demps has built a failure of a roster. The nba is a transient league where GMs and coaches get fired for far less. It's over. Demps is a dead man walkin

I've watched more Pelicans games than Saints games. Hell I watch the majority of the NFL rather than the Saints.(We talk more Pels than the majority of shows in the city). I'm not sure you have any idea what you're talking about.

My statement is a definitely a likely outcome. Try not to be a dick next time too.

How many years do we keep saying this? Even with a fully healthy roster, we don't win a playoff series this year. The roster is just too flawed. The team was built to win now, and has yet to come close to doing so.

Incorrect. Our window is likely over the next 4 years. Not including this one.
KD leaves OKC? Dwight leaves HOU? Grizzlies get worse... Mavs get worse...

How many teams will have max FA cap and a top 5 building block under long term max contract?

With all due respect, sir, I do believe this will be our finest hour.

That has been a consistent excuse for 3 years. Monty was fired after doing more with less and dealing with said injuries last year. Even without injuries, this team isn't winning playoff series. It's a fricked up, unintelligent roster construction even when healthy that provides a ceiling of the second round. Derps hangs his hat on small, inconsequential trades while consistently fricking up major trades and free agent signings.

Well, I definitely may know that you might have a high chance of having low probabilities of being right.

Only because Derps fricked up the present so badly.

So, assuming worst case scenario for everyone better than us.....

Zero, including us, because we will not have "max FA cap."

Our window is however long AD is here, we just have to do a better job of putting a NBA caliber team around him with pieces that fit.

That's a lot of hypothetical that go in our favor, while assuming that we do our part in building a quality team.

Even if Dwight leaves Houston, they'll have the open salary to attract another top player, as well the GM and market to do so (as much as it pains me to say it).

Dirk is slowing down, and will retire eventually, but Cuban isn't going to sit around and let them become a horrible team. They've been spurned by FAs the last few years, but at least they are in the conversation for most of these guys. They'll get another superstar sooner than later.

Listen, I love this team and New Orleans, but let's not act like it's a premiere FA destination, even with AD. Maybe AD does a better job than CP3 convincing another star to come here, but I'm not getting my hopes up about it. This draft will be an opportunity to get another building block with AD and Jrue, and hopefully the next GM can build around those three. If we're lucky we can add a Batum-caliber of player in FA over the next couple of years, but the KDs of the league are most likely not coming here.

I really hate coming off as a pessimist, and I surely hope that I'm wrong, but it's hard to argue otherwise from what we've seen since this team has been here. Maybe some new blood in the GM's office will change things.

Just because you fire someone doesn't guarantee you'll improve with a new hiring.

You're right, we should never fire anyone then.

If someone can't get the job done (consistent winner/deep playoff team), you fire them and hire someone you think can. If they don't after being given enough time to make it work, you fire them.

Demps has been the GM for 6 freaking years. He was hired in July 2010.

The goal is to be ultra competitive in the West, to at least be able to talk about them being a 2nd round team and building towards a WCF type team.

We aren't even a playoff team. The roster construction has failed. Completely.

It is time to move on and see what someone else's vision looks like.

People on here will freak out, but it's almost certain he'll be back. Demps was extended over the summer. They aren't paying him and Monty to go away.
