If this team gives up 130+ to other teams, then yeah. Until then, give it time.

2 of the 3 games were against a supernova Steph Curry. Is there a defensive team who shuts him down tonight? Do you know how easy he makes it for everyone when he plays like that?

Tuesday we play Orlando. If they come out and put up a ton of points, I'll be worried. Asik and Ajinca ought to be able to contribute more in that one.

First 3 games this team is giving up 119 points a game. Funny how high people's expectations were. Looking forward to another lottery pick, but we'll prob trade it for cash or more injured players.

He's actually right

I mean shite they drop well over 100 on Houston on the road. We've played them twice with practically half the roster(not mention curry hits everything even when guarded well)

I understand how hard it is to stop curry. But giving up 70 in the first half to fricking Portland? A team that starts aminu? Unbelievable. We look so disorganized out there.

They were coming off a back to back and made some really good adjustments in the 2nd half.

We're signing guys off the street and asking them to guard Steph Curry.

Darren Erman has had 3 practices with Ish Smith so why isn't he Tony Allen?????????

yeah, cause that was the point of the thread.

No one is asking ish smith to be tony Allen. This thread isn't aimed at any particular player. Comprehension brah. The point of this thread is around erman. If he's such a defensive guru, why isn't his scheme translating? They've had an entire offseason to install it. Even if it isn't exactly clockwork, I expect more than this from a "defensive guru". Even when Holliday is in the defense still struggles. At some point it falls on the scheme more than the players.

And before someone enters the thread screaming "ITS ONLY BEEN 3 GAMES!!!!!!!" They've had an entire fricking offseason and preseason to install the scheme and understand what is demanded from each position on the defensive end.

We've played 2 games against Steph Curry and Klay Thompson and 1 game against Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum.

We've combatted that with Ish Smith, Nate Robinson, Eric Gordon, Alonzo Gee and half of a Jrue Holiday.

We're not really getting dominated inside as far as I can tell without going back and looking at numbers. We're getting eaten alive by perimeter players. It'll get fixed.

People were saying our offense won't work and we just scored 120 points on one of the better defenses in the NBA.

There's definitely some external factors playing into this. But to me, the defense doesn't pass the eye test. Just my 2 cents.

It hasn't looked good. I'm just saying, before we tar and feather the guy, let's give him a shot with a full cupboard.

I think Erman's defensive prowess was greatly overstated when he was hired. His previous experience is in lesser coaching positions. All the stories of his greatness centered around individual players improving, not developing schemes.

I think people set the expectations way too high for this staff. People were seriously saying Erman was a bether hire than OKC getting Monty as an assistant. It was just rose tinting.

You really can't understate the lack of talent on the perimeter right now. Jrue is our only guard that can slow down the likes of Curry and Lillard. That said, excuses are like assholes. Just get it done.

Aminu is better than almost everyone on the Pels. I'd take Asik and EG over him.

He needed somewhere new to play.

People saying this is ermans fault is absurd. I mean Jesus Christ what did y'all expect throwing ish Smith/Douglas/Robinson etc out there? Smith/Douglas were just signed not even a week ago and obviously they haven't had time to adjust and learns guys tendencies(communication is a huge part of defense that's why qpon/Cole are missed so badly)

The defense does have a ways to go for sure but people are not looking at context. Hopefully qpon can come back next week and coaches can adjust while guys pick up things.

Oh and FYI to anyone wondering okc has given up 242 points in 2 games.
