The "Lebron stopper" is acting like Lebron with making the "decision".

Given that the team slow-played him, we really have no leg to stand on trying to rush him to sign for the minimum.

Remember that he is not signing for the minimum in NO.
For minimum he would have signed in the north already...

Wrong. They have reportedly offered him more than the minimum (more than TWolves can offer), but he came back and was demanding a 2nd year player option. I would bet Dell gives in on that as well.

It sucks how so many fans get mad at the players in these situations when this is likely all on the agent. NBA agents make 4%, so Dante has been paying his agent about $125,000 per year to do one thing, get him the best contract and/or playing situation.

MM has said that Dante told Pels assistants he really liked the role Thibs was pitching him vs. his constantly changing role here. I call bullshite. That is 100% saying what his agent told him to say. If Dante gets $3 million with the Pels his agent gets $125k. If Dante gets $2.1 million with Minnesota, he gets $85k. The Agent doesn't want Dante playing in Minnesota anymore than Dante would rather be a 15 MPG backup instead of a 20-25 MPG rotation player and part time starter.

Agree.
But was not Dante going to get 1.7 million minimum?

In that case difference in provision is even bigger...

He's been in the league 8 years. The 8 year vet minimum is $2.1 LINK

From the team's perspective they only pay out like a 2 year vet or $1.47 million. The rest is paid by some CBA mechanism. Maybe that's where you were seeing the other figure related to Dante signing a minimum.

I have a bad feeling on second year of Dante...

Not that it is terrible
But still...

SHould be simple.
You want two years, then you get the minimum.
2/4.2M

or
1/3.whatever

If the point of contention was the player option then I'm guessing Demps didn't cave or Dante would have already agreed.

Honestly Demps may have no ability to give Dante any of next year's money. We'll be back in this same exact situation next season regarding the tax, maybe even worse. "Dante's money" might be necessary to keep Rondo, and if Rondo works out he's more important than Dante, especially as Diallo enters his 3rd year.

That kind of money is purely academic in my life, so IDGAF.

I'm so glad we got him back. He almost fixes the wing depth issue.
