Golden State sure regretted going with a rookie coach. Whoever they hire the assistants might be as important as who the head coach is. That's a big part of the secret to Kerr's success, he got the best OC and DC his owner could buy.

I've kind of decided that every guy we throw out there can be bitched about and argued against, so I'm just going to ride the wave and see who we get.

League sources said the Pelicans are willing to pay around $4 million to $5 million per season for Monty Williams' successor. Williams was fired last week after five seasons at the helm.

That's a leak from Demps...book it. I don't see Loomis letting Demps call the shots on this one...especially the salary range. Loomis/Benson will not lose their chosen candidate over money.

My guess is that any of the big name candidates will demand control (that's the trend). If it works out that way, it would be asinine to have Demps even interviewing the guys because he'll not pursue any of them. He's dumb but not that dumb.

Yes LosLobos, I can't stand Demps! (Just thought I'd save you the time and effort to write it).

Wait, you think Demps is intentionally undermining his bosses? You really think that?

Pardon my ignorance, but are there any league-enforced constraints on coaching compensation? Thanks

There are no rules, but if the franchise only makes $11 million while paying it's coach $3 million or less, then paying a coach $9 million is going to cut into your profits a bit, not to mention the cost of assistants probably increases as well.
