No, but it does increase Paul's chances of leaving the Clippers. This would be the second time this offseason that Sterling has pissed him off.

If by opens up you mean an opening the width of a fly's pube...I guess.

CP3's not coming back here.

More likely, this sets up a run by Houston or Atlanta to try and sign both him and Howard.

If that happens, I don't mind facilitating such a deal if we get the assets we want out of it.

For example, I would LOVE to get Al Horford to play next to Davis if Atlanta is desperately trying to create cap room.

Oh, and the Clippers walked away from the CP3 deal like 3 times.

Means nothing.

Some people were wondering if Stern would tell them to pipe down and stop stealing thunder from the finals. This could easily be Sterling getting cheap once he saw the total cost, or the calm before the storm. The deal is definitely not dead beyond resuscitation, but if it doesn't happen I wonder how Paul feels about Sterling cheaping out on him.

I think those two deserve each other.

Bad move for the clips. KG and the intensity he brings is exactly what the clips need. Doc anf kg would lead them into the finals imo

I don't see it, I believe they are going to have the same problem that Boston has. KG needs to move back to power forward.

A deal for KG and Doc would be step 1.

Step 2 could be flipping other pieces, like Blake, for cap space and future 1sts so they could sign Dwight.

Just an update, not only is it potentially back on, it's back on because CP3 directly asked for it. So if it falls apart...

After superstar Chris Paul injected his influence to accelerate talks, the Los Angeles Clippers are searching for ownership approval to complete a blockbuster deal to bring Boston Celtics coach Doc Rivers and forward Kevin Garnett to L.A., league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

Clippers management planned to huddle with owner Donald Sterling on Wednesday night in Los Angeles to get his approval and move on Thursday to finalize an agreement with the Celtics, sources said. Sterling met with Clippers coaching candidate Brian Shaw, an Indiana Pacers assistant coach, on Wednesday night. The Clippers' trade talks with the Celtics appears to be coming down to Donald Sterling. …

The Clippers will send center DeAndre Jordan and two first-round draft picks to the Celtics in the deal, league sources said.

I don't get this all that much from the Clippers/CP3's point of view, to be honest.

Garnett has what? One year left? So maybe they get one year of him to make a run (and I don't think that puts them in the Finals at all).

Then they have a gaping hole at Center with no money to sign one even with Jordan and Garnett off the books. They would have to make some more moves to clear salary.

shite like this is why I hated Paul when he demanded out.

His insistence on having direct influence over personnel moves pissed me off, mainly in that he demanded Collison be shipped out so that the front office could show loyalty to him instead of keeping a potential successor on the roster.

The idea would be to move Jordan for Garnett to be the 4 then move Griffin and Butler for cap space to sign Howard to play the 5.

Paul Pierce would likely come in to play the 3 as a nod-and-a-wink buyout from the Clip Show.

Doc Rivers will give them the big time credibility they've been lacking.

Can't argue that one.

Doc can coach. VDN just sat there with his thumb up his arse while CP3 coached.

I think his options for improving the Clippers roster are limited, his handlers are pushing hard to stay in LA, and there is real friction between him Blake/Jordan. It may not be a good plan but it's probably the best plan for improvement while staying in LA.

I don't see Griffin for Howard happening.

Garnett would play the 5. He's done it in Boston the last couple of years.
