Found this online and it did a great job breaking down how the offense ran through the Denver bigs this past season.

LINK

My initial assessment is that Boogie should be the big that the offense runs through (when both Boogie and AD are on the floor) due to his passing skills and lack of mobility. It would run through AD when Boogie takes a seat.

Either way, it gets me really excited about how our offense can look this upcoming year.

People keep saying teams need to upgrade to keep up with GS pace- like getting more run and gun shooters. I'm intrigued at the idea of bringing in another big- Blake Griffin or Monroe. Somebody has to try to switch up the way they approach GS. Houston is the only team capable of legitimately running with them and keeping up that pace on an every night basis. No other team can do that so why try to waste time and match what they do?

Pels should go really big this offseason. Having a rotation of AD/Cousins and then 1 other big like Griffin or Monroe will be serious pressure on their ability to defend the paint. Hell let Cousins play center, Monroe PF, and AD small forward. Overwhelm them with size and strength and get them in early foul trouble.

Just spewing out an idea.

It's really an old school idea. Nothing like having the bigs to deny second chance points by gathering rebounds, getting second chance points yourself and forcing the other team to score from outside. The concept it great and works all the time under one huge assumption, your bigs can match the other team's speed especially on transition.

The problem is that this is exactly what GS wants to do, and what they're best at.

Yeah that's my only issue. Cousins is too slow to play on the wing but AD is not. Let's say hypothetically we have AD, Cousins, Griffin- warriors starters will really only be able to truly guard 1 of those 3. Of course we need to consider how we will match up with them but any team will get frustrated trying to hold down Cousins/AD- add another legit all star big to the mix and will cause some real headaches.

Still gotta figure out how to defend those fools

It's just a different idea. Nobody in the league has the caliber of bigs we have so why not add on to our strength? Would be a huge gamble but what the heck else are we supposed to do? I think Rondo is also the answer if we're gonna go big. Give Rondo 2-3 mobile bigs to work the pick and roll / pick and pop. Rondo looked amazing in Chicago with what bigs? Give that man AD and Cousins and see what he can do...

AD is a marvel, but you can't expect him to keep up with Durant or Thompson.

The unique thing that makes gs so dangerous is Klay. He's a 6'7 sg, there's not many that can keep up

AD was guarding Curry a few years back during our series- did a decent job too. Curry would get his space but ADs shot recovery was solid with his lanky arms. I think AD can contain KD or Thompson but not guard them.

Current rules favor ball movement and perimeter players. You cannot beat GS, but you especially cannot beat them playing Cousins/AD/Monroe together. It doesn't pressure the GS defense, it helps them. They just overload the strong side and make AD/Monroe/Cousins pass out of the post and you have 2 players on the court who are weak perimeter shooters and AD is also a poor passer. Turnovers lead to easy transition points for them.

Inside-out low post offenses are dead. Look at where Jokic typically operates in that video. We need athletic, smart players who know how to move off ball, not an expensive big with limited range.

We don't have the room to go after big players and free agency is not great. I don't really have guys in mind right now, but off the top of my head I would say we want to look at CJ Miles, Joe Ingles, Thabo Sefolosha, and Ian Clark type players.

who is saying that? Cleveland tried this exact strategy with the best player of the last 20 years averaging a triple double and still lost in 5 because they couldn't get stops- which, to be fair, seems impossible when the Warriors turn to Curry/Durant PnR.

you need to find enough good, smart, long, perimeter defenders to make it more difficult for the Warriors. look at the Spurs- Kawhi, Green, Simmons. its not about old David Lee or Pau Gasol and being "big"

you need wing defenders and you need an identity so you don't get sucked into playing their game. the Pels have a direction with Davis/Cousins. they are still a ways away from seriously challenging the Warriors in a playoff series
