Chalk Talk with Dell Demps

I was able to attend a "Chalk Talk" with GM Dell Demps before the Spurs game last week. He was actually pretty up front about things and answered every question asked as best as he could. He mentioned some things about West's contract situation, specifically that an extension is difficult because it would be have to based on the 7.5 million dollar salary he would make next year, which is obviously below his value. Another thing that I hadn't heard anywhere else was that Marcus Thornton skipped the voluntary workouts in New Orleans over the summer, which put him behind the ball on defense to start the year. Yeah, I don't normally self-promote, but I thought there was some good stuff from Dell in here that I hadn't heard before. Really impressed with the guy.

Good write up, it's funny how I've read several recounts of this event and keep finding new details. I found the off the court stuff interesting.

Yeah I loved that part meaning we are really out there. And the fact that they hired a lawyer specifically to study CBAs

Thanks for the compliments. I've seen a couple other recaps that had some of the questions. I had the advantage of recording the whole thing, so I was able to get down all of the decent questions.
I'm not the main poster on ATH, I just write something about once a week or when I have some spare time. A guy named Rohan, who is much more talented than me, does the majority of the work over there.
