Casual fan here…tell me why I should like Eric Gordon

I have seen bits and pieces of several games and just can't find it in myself to root hard for the guy. He doesn't look interested and I haven't totally figured out what he brings to the table. He missed a key layup last night that would have made it a closer game down the stretch.

Am I wrong? Should I just be more patient and wait for him to come around? Or do the rest of you feel like I do?

You should just dislike him and stop following the team because of it. Thankfully, you are the first person to start a thread like this, and we really need originality. While you're at it, you should hate Evans for missing layups on the reg. Hell, Davis is shooting under 100% and sometimes falls down. Hate him, too.

You shouldn't like him. He is playing very poorly this year considering the 30 million dollars he makes over the next two years.

This is kinda what I figured. Is Gordon the polarizing figure on here….kinda like Patrick Robinson/Corey White on the Saints board?

Seriously, though, people are being obtuse with Gordon. Get over the contract and he's actually playing very wel . Gordon missed on up and under and a thread gets started. Evans bricked away a win from 3 feet and no mention. Its all confirmation bias at this point.

Not a troll….I just don't follow the team or the NBA as closely as the posters here do. From the casual fan's perspective, I get the impression that Gordon is an overpaid pain in the arse who doesn't want to be here and I want to know if this is the diehard fan's perspective too….or if I am being too hard on the guy and should wait for him to emerge.

You know I absolutely hated the Evans pick up, but to compare the two like you are doing all of the time is laughable. Evans is so much better than Gordon (and on a better contract), it is insane to think otherwise.

Evans:
15.8 points
6.5 Assists
7.2 Rebounds
45% from 3
PER 14.1
ORtg 96
DRtg 108
VORP 1.0

Gordon:
7.8
1.2
3.0
19% from 3
PER 3.6
ORtg 76
DRtg 109
VORP -1.5

And he makes more money. Evans isn't having the greatest year, but Gordon's year makes Evans look like Steph fricking Curry.

EG is having the worst year imaginable for him. And he makes 30 million over the next two years. There's really no reason to argue over it.

Are the Pelicans trying to move him….or is this impossible now due to his contract?

Well he does have a player option after this year, so IN THEORY, if he actually starts to play well, he could opt out.

But he won't opt out.

His contract essentially makes him unmovable. I'm sure Dell is trying, but no one wants him.

Do you even sample size, bro?

Also, Tyreke's PER demonstrates how crappy that pseudo-stat really is (high usg = high PER). The guy is not efficient and goes full retard at the worst times.

My point stands.

Do we believe that he wants to be in New Orleans? Again, casual fan here…but I remember before he got hurt he wanted to sign with Phoenix, I think, and the Pelicans matched the offer or something….but that has been a couple of years ago.

Tyreke has a better TS% and a lower TOV%. So he's even more efficient than EG. And his Plus/Minus is better.

I mean, the only sample size we can go on is how they are playing this year.

I really don't understand how you can even make the argument. Evans hasn't been great, but Gordon has been downright terrible.

He says he does, but these kinds of things are irrelevant.

We have him. We are stuck. He's not opting out of 15 million dollars.

Cus when he plays good, we are a scary playoff team... its beyond stupid to not cheer for him. Guy hasn't produced like u want, but if he turns it around, so will the Pelicans

No, we're fairly united in our dislike of him, although he's been playing so bad lately that hate has turned to pity for some.

No assholes like you and the OP need to go.

Side note: what type of people ask "why should I like him?" What kind of dumb arse shite is that? I hate those kind of threads. Childish shite.

Jester your hatred of Reek is almost worse than my hatred of Gordon

At least I hate Gordon and he's a totally useless piece of shite player. Reek is actually pretty good and you hate him.
