re: cap space write up

Technically you'd be signing Aminu using his rights only if you're under the cap, so keeping his rights may not matter that much.

This situation seems like it would take a very precise trade. And isn't that ~$12m in space being thrown around only in the event that we give up the opportunity to use the MLE?

There are a few MLE's: Taxpayer, Non-Taxpayer (The MLE, and the Room MLE.

It wouldn't have to be a precise trade at all really. It would just have to be a trade that brought in more salary, that's all.

The Pelicans can claim to be over the cap come day 1 of 2013-2014 if they choose.

I'm more than happy to work through all this with you, we all likely learn some things, and log the results on the Salary page.

Over, not under.

Not trying to be picky here, but this is stuff is hairy enough without the little zig-zags we all make confusing the issue more.

Like I said, Mark had an error in his write-up until I contacted him. This stuff is just hard to keep straight.

This past offseason is just such an example. We ended up over the cap and signed free agents, if at minimum salary.

The arabic is not going to stop, as that is part of the CBA. The best thing to do is for us to learn about the real rules and get better at talking about them.

Which . . .to me . . . means I'm only going to spend so much time studying a contract if I'm not being paid.

Not learning about trade rules is perfectly understandable.

Spouting off about trading and not trying to learn the rules is not.

Nothing against you two.

Agreed. That is the best way. Hopefully we can work it enough to so that we stumble upon some good ways to make some of these things less murky.

Good thing is we have until 2024, at least.

re: cap space write up
Do y'all think Bosh could play alongside Davis? I believe there are many similarities between the two, but wonder if they could cause trouble for opposing teams with such similar unique skill sets.

Just wondering based on speculation of the Heat trying to get out from under Bosh's contract. The guy was legit in Toronto and I think much more valuable than the media is making him out to be at the moment.

What if we some how had a starting line up of

Cole/Rivers
Gordon
Webster (?)
Davis
Bosh

Just throwing this crazy hypothetical out there while waiting for free agency and the draft. I think Bosh could potentially complement Davis on the floor, and I think he could anchor the offense by himself also. The team would still be extremely small, but very athletic.

The team would have to focus on team defense and quick hands since they would lack bulk.

I was just throwing around the idea dumb or not; however, I think Bosh is more athletic. I think he is probably better in the paint as a post player compared to Anderson. I feel Bosh could potentially aid in helping the offense flow more through the paint as Anderson sits more on the perimeter.

re: cap space write up
Bosh is still a better player, but that trade would take Anderson and all of our cap space. You'd have a decent shot at landing Pekovic with a max offer (let's say the Wolves ask for Lopez in exchange for not keeping him) while keeping Ryno, which would leave us with about the same amount of cap space as Ryno + cutting Lopez for Bosh would.

And all of that is assuming Miami would prefer Ryno to the Charlotte pick.
