Yes, every coach loves AD. There's not an NBA coach ever that wouldn't love to coach him.

JVG = Mike Ditka.
Thibs was his defensive mind.
I would be very cautious of hiring JVG or even Thibs honestly. Im going to hope we get this right and trust what we do.

I hope it happens with Thibs, but for some reason I think he winds up in Orlando and we hire JVG.
Or maybe that is me slowly starting to like the idea of JVG coaching the Pelicans more and more

Both of them are a gamble, and both of them are possible home runs. Frankly, the Pels are in a great position. I wouldn't be upset with either hire.
BTW, as events unfold I think we're seeing that the Pels made the right move in letting Monty go when they did. He was never our long term answer, and the potential replacement pool is deep this off season.

Bulls FO soured on Thibs late in 2014 when he played the starters 40+ minutes in a meaningless game.
There could be a fair gripe there with Thibs. If he's not willing to adapt and change his philosophy, so we really want to risk him running AD and co into the ground? Holiday, Gordon, Anderson, and Asik already have a pretty detailed injury history as it is.
I don't think Thibs is the end all, be all here.

CHICAGO -- As he explained why they traded Luol Deng to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday, executive vice president of basketball operations John Paxson apologized to Deng for the way the organization handled the forward's illness during last season's playoffs.
Initially, coach Tom Thibodeau said the flu kept Deng out of Games 6 and 7 of the Bulls' first-round playoff series against the Brooklyn Nets. But eventually it was revealed that Deng had to undergo a spinal tap and was very sick. The All-Star forward took to Twitter and said he "suffered the worst headache I've ever experienced and been the weakest I've ever felt." He later said he lost 15 pounds during his ordeal which also kept him out of their second-round series against the Miami Heat.

And right up until his firing, most of the talking heads on the blogs and on the radio did their best to make the people who weren't convinced, regarding Monty, look like total idiots. Just goes to show you that even they don't know as much as they think they do.

The pool became deeper because the Pels are in the market. As others have pointed out, JVG has been romanced before and never went to the altar. We are seeing the positive affects of having AD and the dividends will get bigger going forward.

But before that euphoria becomes too widespread, sit back, take a deep breath and repeat these three words: Jeff Van Gundy.
Thibodeau's not-so-shocking availability should in no way diminish the Pelicans' apparent growing interest in hiring Van Gundy, who interviewed for the New Orleans coaching vacancy on Tuesday in San Francisco.
In my view, Van Gundy is still the best man for the job among the candidates who thus far have been identified, including the most recent revelation, Scott Skiles.
