Yeah, to me I don't think Noel will ever be as good as Tristan Thompson and he is the 4th or 5th best player on a title team and one of Those players is Lebron. Would probably be the 6th best player on a non Lebron title team

I have no interest in paying another big big money next to AD unless he is an ideal fit that I know can finish games next to him against every type of team

Noel's lack of offense and non stellar FT shooting make him a guy you probably can't play 34 minutes against every team. And if you do, can you finish with him and Solomon?

I know it's appealing to get better and get a sure thing, relative to a draft pick or a guy like Diallo, but Noel doesn't even interest me a tiny, tiny bit. I would honestly be more intrigued by Okafor of Vucevic because I know what their role would be and I wouldn't have to pay either 22-25 mil in 2017 or 2018

David Aldridge lists Noel to NOLA as one of his predictions for the season.

quote:

6. Nerlens Noel will be dealt ... to the New Orleans Pelicans

Noel wants out and the Philadelphia 76ers have indicated they’ll ultimately thin their frontcourt herd. Sending Noel to the Pelicans would be an easy move for both teams. The Pelicans need a more agile, mobile center to defend today’s stretch fives and such than Omer Asik (remember when he was the darling of the advanced stats folk?), and Noel is still on his rookie deal. Philly isn’t anywhere near the cap and could take an expiring contract back (is that you, Tyreke Evans?) or a two-way guard like Langston Galloway with no difficulty. Of course, Noel was originally picked by New Orleans in the 2013 Draft, and traded to Philly for Jrue Holiday and a 2014 first-rounder. It was Sam Hinkie’s first big deal in Philly.

LINK

I can't tell if he is just glossing over the compensation details or thinks the trade could be straight up Noel for Tyreke or Galloway. Even being a "Bold Predictions" style light hearted piece you'd think he'd mention picks. I've been against trading our pick for Noel but I'd take either of those trades if Philly bit.

Galloway is a bit of an asset Philly also has to decide how long they plan to hold him as an asset. Like will they match big money and still have him on the team a few years from now still holding out like Denver has done with Wilson Chandler? They certainly have the cap space to do that, but at the same time they really need to focus all of their resources on getting the right pieces around Simmons/Embid. I'm not saying they'll just give him away, but I can see them not getting any teams to offer a 1st for an RFA expected to make Biyombo money or higher.

i don't think they can hold onto him or Okafor too long. they have no leverage. Simmons going down helped open some PT up, but they just have too many young frontcourt guys to keep happy. Embiid, Noel, Okafor, Holmes, Saric. the longer it drags out, i think the lower his return will be and the worse it will be for a team trying to turn their culture around

if the Pels have any legit interest, why not offer

2017 top 18 protected pick...when it doesn't convey, then
2018 lottery protected pick....if it doesn't convey
2019 2nd

can toss in a 2nd this year too

if they give up 2 2nds, it was a failed gambit and Davis is gone.

if they give up a 1st, they made the playoffs at least once, got some extra $$ and may have a chance at keeping Davis into his 3rd contract. seems like a worthy gamble, of course that's if they believe Noel can be a keeper

That's protection I can live with. They don't get a 1st unless we're a playoff team in the next 2 years.

Don't like the fit with AD and NN one dimessional play. Not saying about the cost (pick)...

But mostly terrified about his next contract...

not saying Noel is particularly good or skilled on offense, but i don't get what people are looking for out of a 5 so he's not one dimensional

with davis on board, you don't need (nor will likely find) a gasol or towns or prime noah. but how is a 5 that can bring 75% of what deandre jordan (or NO tyson chandler) can do on offense a bad fit next to davis? a mobile big who can finish in the air on rim runs is a powerful weapon in any offense

if the point is that davis should be that type of dive man in crunch time, fine. but then we're not even looking for a 5, but more of a small ball 4. which is also fine
