He isn't an AWFUL FT shooter imo

He ain't great but he's not DJ/Drummond tier either

I could see him being around 62%-65ish percent from the line with a bit of work. He was around that mark at times Post ASB.

this tweet puts the contract in perfect perspective:

The Bird Writes ?@thebirdwrites 37s38 seconds ago
Also, Omer Asik and Alexis Ajinca combined cost less than Greg Monroe this year if he gets the max.

You need a guy like this to win games on the way to the playoffs. Not every matchup is the same. But you need to cover all the bases

It's paramount to have Asik to survive our division

Did you just plagiarize Boom?

Probably the only time I've ever agreed with him.

I can't wait until football season so Chad can go back to trying to impress Saints Talk.

That's the thing people forget about. They keep talking about this finals series. That's one series in one year. You gotta win a lot of games in the regular season against a division stacked with all-NBA centers.

If those are the numbers, then it's much more palatable.

The point of people "freaking out" over the numbers isn't the percentage of the cap that it'll be next season, or how much it'll be worth in 14-15 dollars next offseason, it's the fact that the deal is limiting the amount of cap space that will be available next offseason. Before the Ajinça and Asik deals the Pels could have gone into next off season with over 20 mil in cap space. Now, if they use the MLE (for a 2 year contract) they'll be at 15-16 mil in cap space, rather than 20+.

Looks like the Pelicans will have to clear about $5 million in cap space before next July in order to have room for a max contract (doable).

While I slightly agree, most people on here just saw Asik and 60 million and didn't even think about next offseason cap. They thought about how dumb that sounds to them

Omer Asik is going to cost about 12% of the cap. $7.5M in old cap terms.

That's what was aggravating to me, the value of the deal was irrelevant. Max cap space to put another star next to AD should be the primary goal, IMO.

the Pels have 2 assets on great contracts that they can flip and gain cap space in Evans and Anderson. If we are in the running for one of the game changing FAs and need to find the money, I am confident we can do that with relative ease.

Finding an NBA center is not cheap and when you don't have one it REALLY sucks, especially in the West. This was a need.

Dell will make it work if he sees it's possible to get a 2nd star.

I know it'll be workable, but look at what the dumbass kings just gave up to shed salary. I would rather not be in that position.

be asked to redo the deal or he won't be a Pelican
you said this earlier and I'm amazed you haven't realized yet you can't "redo" deals in the nba.

Kevin Durant may be meeting with Dell this time next year. That thought makes me so excited.

I think he was referring to the last year of the deal which is a team option.

someone elite is going to want to join with AD, especially if we get pre-injury Jrue back. We are literally 1 damn piece and a healthy roster away from a legit shot at a title.

If you are getting KD, you have no need for Tyreke. The money would come from there. If they get a commitment, it will be very easy to create max room
