20th highest paid center in the NBA. We clearly got bamboozled.

He's not on the rockets anymore he clearly has regressed. He must have a 90% chance of getting stripped when going up for his missed layups or pathetic dunks. Golden state showed him that he is not a starting caliber center in this league.

Potentially chronic (multi-year) back inflammation, if we got bamboozled by anyone it was the medical staff. Although there's a poster on PR that says he knows someone that works for I guess Ochsner, one of the 3rd parties they used that said the medical advice was to not play Jrue and the team said, "I hear you, but if he were to play, how many minutes should we limit him to?" Maybe the legend of Drew Brees makes them err on the side of not being Nick Saban.

The Rocketards agree, and based on how he played at different parts of the season the back condition in the OP is likely the cause. This is a temporary condition where the inflammation clears up when the infection is cleared up, but the question is does it last months or years. WebMD said it could be either and this team's track record with player injuries doesn't give me enough confidence to say "they wouldn't have signed him if this is going to linger." But if it does clear up by the start of the season there's no reason to think there's "no chance" we get the Houston Asik.

ah yes, one bad team matchup shows he shouldn't start in the NBA.

Are you high? Did you watch last season? I literally cringe the second he gets the ball and is about to attempt something with it. He seriously hasn't even learned how to not travel when he gets the ball. I will give him props for one play and only one play since he has joined and that was the dunk on howard. I have not seen anything even close to that outside of that one time.

Yet he somehow managed to AVERAGE 10.1 points per game the year he started in Houston. ACTUAL DOCUMENTED FACT

You so got me, bro. You should go to Starbucks and see if they'll reward you with a free spiced Chai latte

Is he really that low? I am seeing conflicting numbers on his salary for next season. It seems to be right around 10M, which is lower than I thought it'd be. I found a listing on ESPN of the projected highest paid players (LINK ) for next season. According to that, he would be about 17th. But it has him at 9.2M under Varejao and Haywood (who just cut and his contract wasn't guaranteed). Kind of surprised me there were that many ahead of him..

His contract is actually very reasonable considering it'll be just 11% f the cap(equal to around 7ish mil a year if we're talking 2014 dollars i.e pre cap jump)

How reasonable Asik's deal is all depends on whether or not we get Houston Asik. Stiff, bad back Asik is replaceable for less than 11% of the cap.

ATL, is the back a real issue or an excuse to bail on the euro team?

If the former, has any medical professional or Pels employee voiced serious concern?

I have no clue. This is the first time we've seen an actual diagnosis more specific than back spasms, and it does seem potentially more serious than a pulled muscle that needs to rest. On the other hand, it did seem like we were bidding against ourselves on his deal, so maybe part of the deal was Asik focuses on getting ready for the Pels and not the national team this summer. The specificity of the diagnosis makes me think it's probably real though.

That poster on PR only asked about Jrue because he talked to his alleged insider friend during the playoffs.
