re: Anthony Davis' PER

The good thing about Davis is that be already has a great foundation built. The question in, can he fill out a bit and bang with the big boys. That's what will decide if he's a Garnett or Duncan.
As for Drummond, I see his ceiling as a Andrew Bynum (when he's healthy at his best). That's if he can develop some semblance of an offensive game.
If he doesn't develop an ounce of O game, then he could still be a great player. Look at guys like Wallace, Ibaka and Rodman. They were always key cogs in Championship caliber teams. Multiple time DMVP winners and even MVP candidates in some cases.
Man, if Drummond would've dropped to us, we would be challenging for a top 4 seed in the west for years to come.

Remember Darko Milicic?
All I heard about when he was drafted...was his freakish athleticism. A seven footer who moves like a guard. How is he doing?
How about Kwame Brown?
Bismack Biyombo?
The "he's only a freakish athlete, and that's it" argument is lazy, IMO.

the insane number of people on this board who did not want to touch him just blows my mind.

When I need a good cry, I go back to 2010, when Paul George was selected at 10
the Hornets took Cole Aldrich next

Those people don't exist. I was probably the most anti-Drummond on the board, but it was in regards to the higher pick. It is nice that he has decided to exert effort now that he's in the NBA.

That messed up my whole work day when it happened.

Are you kidding me? There were definitely people on here on draft day who wanted to take Rivers or someone else over Drummond at 10.

I don't recall any of them. Plus, he was already gone. I know a lot of people wanted Lillard over Drummond, but I don't think anyone specifically wanted Rivers v. Drummond.

Drummond is almost 6 months younger than AD23, also. He is being moved along slowly. He has played 2 games of 30+ minutes (33mpg avg) and is averaging 15/12 w 77% FG. Averages 9/9 in games of 20+ minutes (23mpg).
Per 36- 13/14/3 with 2 steals and 59% FG. I know it's skewed. But it shows what kind of potential he has.

After AD grows into his body, he will be a really solid player. His jumper definitely translates into a long career over someone who relies on athleticism.

AD's been 6'10 for what, 2.5 years? give him another full season to bulk up 10-20lbs of muscle. I promise, next year, he'll be a regular double double. they'll feed his hunger for points next year after he develops some.
I was one of the ones high on drummond, if we didn't get #1 pick in AD, I would have hoped we traded back to either get drummond or pick up lillard

Dwight Howard started in the NBA after coming straight out of high school, so his rookie year of 12/10 was Drummond's freshman year of college. I
well drummond would earily be averaging this if the pistons didn't already have a stud young big man
let's be fair

but if he was going to be a Super Star we'd know it already.
like andrew bynum in his rookie year?

Not necessarily true. Going against second units tends to skew stats upward.

there were reports that he has grown about an inch since draft workouts...there was a thread much earlier in the season about this.

slightly, but that PER is really, really high, even for a 2nd unit player
PT is PT though. dwight got 35.8 min/game his 2nd year. drummond is getting less than 20 this year
dwight took double the shots (at a lower rate, which would be the first thing to drop for drummond if he got more PT)
drummond's rebound rate is 21.4 to howard's 20.9 his 2nd year. drummond is also getting blocks and steals at higher rates.
funny enough, they had almost identical TS% (56.6 v 56.5)

andrew bynum is a super star. he's just injury prone (but really hasn't been for a couple years, and he was a superstar in those years)

We'll have to agree to disagree there.
ETA - He is a good player and will go to several all-star games, but I reserve "super star" for the likes of Jordan, Kobe, Shaq, Lebron, Magic, Bird, etc. Bynum is not in that category.
