He always says "guys" never we or I, but some "guys" were in the wrong spot. The frick man, take some accountability for this shite show you're running. He always threatens to make changes, but what changes has he made? Tyreke should not have been in at the end of the game today, but of course Al has him in. We couldn't run the finally play because tyreke was no threat, so our play was an AD shot 20 feet away from the basket. It's so frustrating with this large mouth bass as our head coach. Can't wait till he is canned

He says guys because the divas we have on our team would fake an injury if he called them out by name.

I think he still hasn't gotten over how bad they are at doing what's asked of them. It's been a while since he's coached on a bad team. The Bulls are going through the exact same thing right now shifting from a controlling disciplinarian to a "players coach" preaching a free flowing offense. I don't know if Chicago has the BB IQ problems we have but apparently going from highly structured to not structured is pretty hard to do. The ridiculous part is Gentry got the job in part because this roster was supposedly a good fit for his system. Uncle Al has to blame the guys because he needs Demps to trade half of them.

Pretty good point. That's not the way you go about earning your team's respect

That was not the play that was called.

[quote] “That wasn’t the play,” said Davis, who had 29 points and 15 rebounds. “But I had a good shot. It kind of slipped out of my hand. I kind of lost it when I put it on the floor. It had a chance of going in.”

That Davis’ last look in regulation came off a broken play was a solid summation of the Pelicans’ afternoon.

On a day when New Orleans played some of its best defense of the season — the Heat shot 39.8 percent overall, were 23.1 percent on 3-pointers and committed 18 turnovers — the offense was as discombobulated as ever. At least two times — three by Davis’ count — a Pelicans player was out of position on a play directly following a timeout.

One of those players — by his own admission — was guard Tyreke Evans, who was in the wrong spot on the floor out of a timeout with 13.5 seconds to play. That necessitated another timeout 5 seconds later.

“(Gentry) wanted me to be more in the middle” of the floor, Evans said. “We’ve got to do a better job with that. It wasn’t just me.”

Gentry said he didn’t know what led to the confusion.

We draw everything up and then we duplicate it again, and then the last thing we say is, ‘Does everybody understand where they are?’ ” Gentry said. “And if you say yes, I expect you to get to the right spot. If you say ‘No, I don’t,’ that’s a different story.” [quote]

Does the coach bear ultimately responsibility? Sure. Should a coach continually throw players under the bus? No. BUT, in this case, Gentry has every right to voice his frustration.

Fine line. If Gentry always takes the blame, then he is just reinforcing bad habits. If he calls guys out, even when it is correct, then he is shirking responsibility.

Basically, he has to win games. Otherwise there is no right answer

Maybe it's hindsight but I remember Monty placing a deal of blame on himself pretty frequently but maybe that's not correct.

What's worse, not knowing what to do as a coach or players consistently not doing what you ask?

So a coach saying that guys weren't lined up correctly means he's throwing the players under the bus?

If the players are that thin-skinned, they shouldn't have even made the trip back from Miami

I got no problem with coaches calling out players in the press if they do so face-to-face before.

It's the players consistently blowing off what the coach asks them to do in the huddle that troubles me. Makes me wonder if they are even listening.
