Would the other team have to give up anything? If not, then I could see it happening. Still unlikely, but possible.

They have to give up at least a fake second, but essentially nothing provided they have room to sign Jrue outright.

I can only find three S&T's over the last few years, and they were all for minor players at that time. (IT was one of them, back in 2014, but I think SAC would like to have that one back!) The others were for Troy Daniels and Delly.

My point is this, a S&T with Jrue isn't going to happen, so I wish the bloggers would table that crap.

In general, no, but for a team like NY it makes a ton of sense. They want him. He's not going there unless the money is right and the only way the money can be right is a S&T.

Crewz is right though...comes down to the lottery. If the Knicks get a top 3 pick then draft a PG...would they still go after Jrue? Odds are unlikely IMO

S&T's don't happen anymore because there is no incentive to do so. I think the incentive on Jrue's part is payback for the Pels support of him and it would not cost him anything. The Pelicans could also sweeten the pot for the team that gets Jrue by throwing in a future 2nd to get the TPE.

Like Tiger said, if it's the Sixers or Nets, why would they? They have the cap space to sign him outright. It's team dependent really. Also, look at the market for PG this offseason. It's extremely limited which will turn lower Jrue's value along with the fact that the cap isn't as as high as originally anticipated. Again, if he wants to go to the Knicks who, I would think want to bring back his brother (would have his bird rights I think) then a S&T would makes some sense especially if they want to offer him more money.

I think the Sixers still owe the Pels for the original Holiday trade shenanigans. And like NOFOX said, a 2nd or maybe even cash considerations could be all it takes to make the other team fill out some different forms. In a normal year getting a trade exception for a lost FA might not be worth it to the Pels. But this year it could be central to the offseason strategy if Holiday leaves.

I agree with you that they do, but I doubt their front office feels the same way. I also agree that it would be to our FO's benefit, but it does take two to tango.

We pay them to do so. As I said, you offer future 2nds to do so or cash if that is their thing. Considering the weak free agent market and the excess amount of space still out there, I think having the TPE gives you a LOT more flexibility than trying to create space.

You are an unappreciative little twat. Just shut your mouth and say thank you to all the "bloggers" who gave you tons of high level content over the years and undoubtedly helped educate you on the Pels, the CBA, etc more than anyone else

You're welcome!

Another factor, Demps has a pretty good track record in working with Colangelo.

Juju for Belinelli
Bayless and Peja's big paycheck for Jack and the ability to make payroll for another month before the league bought the team

I feel that their front office feels this was enough payback. Regardless as you pointed out there is a relationship there and if you provide any incentive for them there is no downside.

Again, I agree with everything you guys are saying from the Pels perspective...my thing is why does Philly want more second rounders? They have the cap space and they have enough young assets to build around. Unless they really, really want his bird rights and want to offer him more money to get him, I don't see the upside for Philly even there is no downside.

Ish for two seconds was made by Hinkie.
He was fired in April 2016. Ish was traded around Christmas Day 2015

Colangelo was hired by Philly prior to the Ish trade. In fact, when the trade occurred many on this board pointed to that trade and assumed it was a move by Colangelo to A) somewhat pay back us for what happened with Jrue and B) get the type of PG they wanted long term. I think they thought at the time they could re-sign him the next offseason which clearly didn't happen.

ETA: He was hired 12/7/15 as Chairman of BO. The Ish trade was the first of his tenure if I recall.

Philly may want to target another free agent that will garner more than the room exception to go along with Jrue. There are scenarios where it would make sense for Philly to do a sign and trade.

I suppose that's possible. I just don't think it's probable. But I digress

Why would a team not want free 2nds or cash for doing almost nothing with no downside??? If someone offered you $20 to do nothing, would you take it even if you didn't need $20?

That isn't a thing with S&T's anymore. Max of 4 years and 4.5% raises.
