34 games with EG on the floor

Real GM-
ORating 110.1
DRating 110.6

HoopData-
ORating 107.1
DRating 107.9

I also checked NBA.com. I wasn't able to find individual box scores, but I ran splits on the stats from when Gordon started playing up until now.

ORating 104.7
DRating 107.7

All three sites rate them as top 10 offense and bottom 3 defense

Had you not posted this, I'd of never known the Hornets offense was as high as it is.

Ryno burys shots, General drive n dishes... but sometimes the offense is terrible to watch. Other times when they clicking it is pretty good with the shooters on the floor.

Last nights game(POR) was a classic example of this. Looked good on offense most of the game. But man was their some terrible play at times. I know they had the game in hand the entire 2nd half, but I was shaking my head a few times.

What the hell happened to our defense? Even when we sucked last year our defense was still respectable

the offense rates well, but is it just because they have talented individuals making plays? atthehive has touched on this a bit.

i guess it doesnt really matter right now if they are scoring this well. there is time to gel in a system

i really believe its youth/inexperience and a lack of talent. takes time to learn defense at this level with rotations/scouting reports. one false step, one second napping and the possession is over. they really need davis to anchor the defense and hes just not ready to do that yet.

hopefully we see improvement as these guys grow up more together. certainly if it isnt better next year, monty will not be long for this job.

Update to the update-

NBA.com just redid their stats site and it's very comprehensive- typical advanced stats plus clutch stats, shot charts, splits, etc . If you're interested in the numbers, you have to check it out. If you don't know much, they have a nice glossary to help out.

I ran the team #s from the time Gorodn first played (12/29)through the break. I couldn't filter out the games Gordon missed, but this is still a nice look at how the team has stacked up with the rest of the league over the last 6 weeks.

LINK

11th in ORating
19th in DRating

The last two games- played without Gordon- really helped out the DRating.

the guy is a very good basketball player (don't know if he's on the great track)....Does he want to be here? Can he stay healthy for meaningful amounts of time?

If the answer to either of those questions is no, the rest doesn't matter.

34 games with EG on the floor

Real GM-

ORating 110.1
DRating 110.6

HoopData-

ORating 107.1
DRating 107.9

Compared to season ratings for the league, a top 10 offense, a bottom three defense on both sites.

I also checked NBA.com. I wasn't able to find individual box scores, but I ran splits on the stats from when Gordon started playing up until now.

ORating 104.7
DRating 107.7

Again a top 10 offense, a bottom 3 defense.
