2016: The year of the Wowzer Deals!!!! (Pelicans Future)

I just read an article that inspired me to post in Pels Talk. I wanted to put together a list of Free Agents in 2016 that the Pelicans should chase down. I also, in case it hasn't been done 100 times already, wanted to explain the Salary Cap and what is about to happen next season in the NBA.
Salary Cap Increase
Thanks to a $9 billion TV deal that gives the NBA so much money they are literally going to throw it away to the teams, the best idea ever, and boost the salary cap's of each team by almost 34%, the largest salary cap increase in one season in sports history.
NBA Salary Cap
2014-15 - $67.1 million
2015-16 - $67.1 million
2016-17 - $89 million (expected)
2017-18 - $108 million (estimated)
That means that the Pelicans will have enough money to sign the All-Star athletes like Kevin Durant to play along side Anthony Davis for a few years. The Pelicans will have so much cap space, they can sign two All-Stars and still have money left over for the rest of the roster.
Here are some 2016 Free Agent's the Pelicans should consider:
Point Guards
Mike Conley, MEM
Brandon Jennings, DET
Tony Wroten Jr, PHI (RFA)
Shooting Guards
Brandon Rush, GSW
Bradley Beal, WAS (RFA)
Terrence Ross, TOR (RFA)
Jeremy Lamb, CHA (RFA)
Small Forwards
Kevin Durant, OKC
Earl Clark, BRK
Adonis Thomas, DET
Harrison Barnes, GSW (RFA)
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, CHA (RFA)
Danilo Gallinari, DEN (RFA)
Power Forward
Terrence Jones, HOU (RFA)
Centers
Al Jefferson, CHA
Joakim Noah, CHI
Al Horford, ATL
Andre Drummond, DET (RFA)
Meyers Leonard, POR (RFA)
Just a peek at 2017's FA
LeBron James, CLE
Stephen Curry, GSW
Dwight Howard, HOU
Russell Westbrook, OKC
Blake Griffin, LAC
Serge Ibaka, OKC
Amir Johnson, BOS
Derrick Rose, CHI
DeMar DeRozan, TOR
Chandler Parsons, DAL
And many more....

Isn't it likely the players opt out of the CBA?
I would think they would want all of their contract values including max contract values to go up

Frick no, not the way their getting paid now. It does sound like the owners may.

Mike Conley and Kevin Durant Please!!!!!!

Max contracts is questionable. Those only affect a small portion of the players association, and they all get one vote.

Honestly I think having Russell Westbrook paired with AD would be nasty.

Why? Having an inefficient scorer take points away from an efficient scorer?

Uhh what

Westbrook is not an efficient scorer, Davis is one of the most efficient scorers in the league and even in NBA history. Why on gods green earth would you want to take the ball out of ADs hands to put it in Westbrooks hands???

Take these names off the list to make it look a bit more rational:

They have some pretty good free agent centers with Al Jefferson, Joakim Noah, Andre Drummond, and Al Hofford, but outside of them, the only other good free agents IMO are Kevin Durant, Mike Conley, and Bradley Beal.

I'm thinking Durant is going to end up back home in DC playing for the Wizards though

You even said before that you aren't sure that Memphis will max Conley. If Memphis doesn't, someone will.

OKC is the clear favourite, Billy D gets a year to convince him to stay. I'm not sure that WAS would even be #2. I'd think that teams like HOU and MIA would both have as good a shot as any team besides OKC. I'd say something like:
OKC - 40%
HOU - 15%
MIA - 15%
WAS - 15%
All others 15%
OKC - 40%
HOU - 15%
MIA - 15%
WAS - 15%
All others 15%

I have always thought it would be smart for Chicago to go after Durant with a package centered around Jimmy Butler.

Oh and LeBoo is on a 1yr + player option so he will be an UFA next season.

Conley isn't going anywhere. Him and Gasol were sort of a package deal.
The comments were more about not knowing what the deal will look like.
