Because they are in rebuilding mode and assuming if they take Embiid,they believe that if they both(Embiid and Noel) pan out then that would be a beastly front court.

Could you imagine how bad they would look if they didn't pan out? They would have traded away an all star PG and tanked a season to draft two big men with injuries.
