Zac Brown is "covering" Jason Isbell on ESPN right now

Zac Brown just played Dress Blues on ESPN. Maybe some of you enjoyed it, but I for one did not.

I'm just curious, what is the etiquette in a situation like this? Does Zac need Isbell's permission to do this or is it frowned upon to do so without his blessing? seems like an odd cover for such a big audience

I don't think Zac Brown is on the same level as Isbell, but he and his band do get a lot of hate they shouldn't. Plenty of talent in there. They've made some shitty songs, but also have some pretty good ones and do solid covers.

Yea I have to agree with you. Zac Brown has been one of my favorite mainstream country artists for a while.
I think I was just initially shocked and concerned that the song would be ruined. It definitely could've fallen in worse hands though.

Haven't heard the performance yet. I saw ZBB on TV but the sound was off while cooking. After I left my house my brother texted me and told me about it.

Yeah, I hate most all of the new country but love the heck out of most of Zach Brown's stuff. Can't wait to track down a more quality link of this.

Hope they make it a single. I liked their version. What other mainstream artis would you want to cover one of your songs? ZBB is pretty legit. They could do well with it.

i agree with this. Isbell's is better but ZBB did a damn fine job
