I did a search and didn't see much discussion. I just listened to his first studio album (self-titled) that was released last year. Sirius had played that Take Me to Church song so much that I was just curious what his other songs actually sounded like.
I thought I would hate it, but I really liked it. Work Song was my favorite track. I guess he's technically "Indie Rock", but I liked the soul influence.
Anyone else enjoy it? Old comments in other threads have me under the impression that many here don't like him. I kind of wish I would have caught him at Jazz Fest.

caught some of his set on palladia from coachella and was actually impressed with him. dude has pipes.

Take Me Church is probably the worst song on that album IMO. OR maybe I'm just super annoyed by it.
You can solely thank that LeBron Beats commercial for giving it airtime for it becoming popular.
I agree that Work Song is great. I like Jackie & Wilson a lot too.
I definitely dig his style- that soulful kind of indie rock.

I was very impressed by his Coachella set this year on AXS.

I saw him at jazz fest and thought he was great because I love his album. Some of the people I was with only knew "Take Me to Church" and were impressed with his vocal ability. With that being said he needs to get more comfortable on stage; he is not much of an entertainer.

kind of the same as others, take me to church I liked when I first heard it but it was so overplayed that I never really gave the album a listen. then I saw his Coachella performance and gave it another shot and I really like it.
