Currently, probably Glenn Kotche

Nice pick. Glen is the man. Awesome seeing him in that Bose sound commercial too

Mine would probably have to be Billy Martin. The guy is a machine that can just snatch a groove out of nowhere, and his classical percussion background gives his sound such great style.

Abe Cunningham from Deftones

No one will ever laud him for his technical ability, but that cat has some of the most intoxicating rhythms of any drummer I have ever heard.

Current: Steve Jordan, JJ Johnson, and Peter Erskine.

Deceased: Buddy Rich, Elvin Jones, and Tony Williams.

I can respect drummers like Portnoy and Carey, but when you predominantly play jazz drums, it doesn't impress me anymore.

Great quote from Buddy:
"If you don't have the ability (jazz drumming) you wind up in a rock band."

Listen to some jazz drummers on YouTube. It's amazing.

Peart was the first drummer that really made you pay attention.

I really like guys that play angry, John Dolmayan of SOAD and Des Kensel of High on Fire do it for me.

Mike Portnoy. I haven't really like his attitude the past few years but he is one hell of a drummer.

I also have to send a little love to Dino Campanello:

Same Ol' Road

I just love the syncopation that he plays with. There's a lot of improvisation in it. Also, playing piano with one hand and drums with the other takes a drummer brain.
