I think his cover of Hey Jude was better than the Beatles original.

I 100% agree with you on Wilson Pickett, great songs, great voice, unique. I still listen ti his greatest hits today and I'm in my 50's. I put W.Pickett in there with Otis Redding, Aretha Franklin, James Brown, Stax artists, and Al Green. I moved from Louisiana to Tupelo,Ms for family and career in '92 and was surprised at how all that Memphis sound spills over into this area and when we go to Beale Street in Memphis, Wilson Pickett is still played today on the street. I actually like Beale St. better than Bourbon St. because the restaurants and live bands play the Soul music 90% of the time. Cover bands on the northeast area of Beale play Stax/Soul, R & B all the time. That's what I played with the Nitetimers at the Hilton and the Bellemont in B.R. in the 80's. Love Wilson Pickett.

I would have.but I'm on my.phone. that's my.go-to ""cover better than original" threads

..my.post history.probably shows 5 or 6 times I have posted pickett and.skydog jamming. That song was indirectly.responsible for Lalya. Clapton heard it and had to meet Duane. They met, jammed and 2 weeks later recorded Derek and the dominoes...lots of heroin helped.
