I beg to differ. If you wanna know who can sing and who can not, check out live versions of songs without all the editing BS

Some of my favorites have already been listed, such as Boland, REK, etc.
Some under the radar guys that you might have missed over the past decade or two:
Newer guys:
--Max Stalling
--Slaid Cleaves
Old school Texas country:
--Jerry Jeff Walker
--Gary p. Nunn
Women country/folk:
--Lucinda Williams (start with Car Wheels on a Gravel Road album)
--Kacey Chambers
Somewhat Cheesy Texas guys with some good songs:
--Roger Creager
--Kevin Fowler
Semi-older Texas country:
--Jack Ingram (ignore the new radio stuff. Lonesome Question is a great album from start to finish)
--Charlie and Bruce Robison
Old Folk:
--John Prine

Add Chris Staples to this list.
Also I wouldn't consider him full-blown Country, but Joe Pug is really good and would appeal to country fans IMO.

Matt Harlan, one of the best current songwriters and singers. It's a damn shame that he isn't more well known, guy is so damn good.
Do yourself and check him out on spotify. Start with the album tips and complaints and go from there. it's all great

Add Davin James, Tommy Alverson, Terry Rasor, Walt Wilkins to these groups.
Also, Buddy Miller (very under-rated in my book)

Thinking about it. Say Hayes Carll there a couple months back and it was an awesome setting for an acoustic act. I'll probably be there.
