Tutor?
App?

I inherited an upright. I played saxophone until college but am 39 now and probably couldn't read music for shite anymore.

What's the best way?

You're right at the cusp of what I would say is the teacher versus youtube/app divide.

You can probably pick it (music reading) back up pretty quickly - of all the musical instruments in the world, it's going to be a challenge to play piano without being able to read music - particularly learning to play in your middle ages.

So, spend some time relearning how to read music - work on some easy songs in C and go from there.

Not to be an arse, but practice is the real answer. If you've played an instrument before, then you already possess the raw knowledge necessary to read music. Find a YouTube video to fill you in on the piano basics (which keys correspond to which notes of the scale; standard hand positions), and either purchase or look up online some beginner pieces. Then just start pounding away. It will come.

I taught myself the basics by just sitting down with some YouTube videos. Then I sold the piano, that was given to me, like an idiot and wouldn't be able to play a thing now. It took a lot of patience.

Scales, scales, and more scales. Learning how to move your fingers on the keys in the proper manner will help out tremendously once you start reading music efficiently.
