I'm generally not a big fan of bluegrass, but Bela Fleck is effing awesome. Bela Fleck and the Flecktones - Big Country

If you want to start off old school I'd get a sampling of
Ralph Stanley (also the Stanley Bros w/ bro Carter)
Bill Monroe
Mac Wiseman
Jimmy Martin
Flat & Scruggs

Then ease into these slightly more modern bad arse mofo's:
Bela Fleck
Tony Rice
Del McCourey
Sam Bush

Or get some Trampled by Turtles stuff and work your way backwards. I'd reccomend the albums Palamino and Songs from Ghost Town as starters.

probably my favorite genre of music

some of my very favorites

Alison Krauss and US
Old and In the Way
John Hartford
Tony Rice
Norman Blake
Peter Rowan
Ricky Skaggs
Seldom Scene
JD Crowe and the New South
Flatts and Scruggs
Del McCoury Band
Rhonda Vincent
Daily and Vincent
Sam Bush

Greensky Bluegrass is probably my very favorite group of young guys absolutely burning it up. They are doing a late night jazzfest show (not sure of the date). highly recommended. red hot players and great song writers.
