If someone claims to like something that you thinks sucks, tell them and then recommend something better. Becoming an audiophile takes dedication and lots of wading through shite.

Being told your taste in music is shite shouldn't be a deterrent. It should be a motivator. You can't rightly say you know better than someone who has listened to more music than you.

Be negative.
Listen to more music .
...
Profit?

As the quasi-unofficial voice of the board, I agree.

I believe you meant a music aficionado. An audiophile is usually a person more interested in the quality of the playback of the music.
An audiophile is more apt to discuss equipment over tasty jams.

From M-Webster dictionary...

[quote]Definition of AUDIOPHILE. : a person who is enthusiastic about high-fidelity sound reproduction.[/quote

I use the words interchangeably, though you are correct an audiophile is technically someone who is more interested in the production more so than the product.

Negativity is great as long as people understand it is ok for someone to say capitalcitydevils favorite band sux (which they do).

I like to misuse sentences the same way like

"OP has a good point"
And
"OP sounds a bit off"

Sometimes I do, but mostly people would criticize me and say what do I know more than them?

Besides, if it was up to me, there would be ZERO discussion about rap & modern pop.
