Tulane gets some good performers fairly regularly. The only problem is you have to put up with Tulane students when you go. Used to not be such a big problem, but I'm closing in on 30 and it's all I can do to put up with the two Tulane kids next door.

No, I said the japandroids sound worse than panic at the disco. Sounds like you're butthurt that baton rouge is getting lame music. I'll admit that I liked the shins as a freshman in college but they are horrendous live.

The Shins were one of those bands I checked out because they got good reviews on an album (Chutes and Ladders?). Couldn't stand it.
