It should never be taken seriously. It is inherently flawed and doesn't make sense.

No need for this thread. You are preaching to the choir here. Water is wet.

The fact that Green Day is in the RoRHOF proves your point.

The exclusion of Thin Lizzy is grounds for burning it to the ground and executing all involved parties.

Agree about Grand Funk Railroad. Never even mentioned. Deep Purple must get in this time. HOF is a joke.

Are they really? Even Billie Joe has to be, "Seriously? you want to induct us?"

Sonic Youth or Pixies? Meh, I'd think somebody like Black Flag would be better in that sense. Greg Ginn, Henry Rollins, Bill Stevenson, Kira Roessler lineup.

Or a little more popular alternative like The Cure, New Order, Depeche Mode, or The Smiths would be selected for that matter.

Gene Simmons when asked how he would change the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame:

"The first thing I would do is move the bodies buried in the wrong place. I would bury them in the right place. I would put Run-D.M.C., who I believe are very good, and the rest of hip-hop into the Hip-Hop Hall of Fame. I would take Madonna and Donna Summer, who was a dear friend, and put them in the Disco or Dance Hall of Fame. I would put Deep Purple in the Hall. The fact that Blondie got in before Humble Pie is crazy."

Understatement of the year....

No Sonic Youth, No Pixies.

No Iron Maiden, no Motley Crue, no Judas Priest, no Slayer or Megadeth. No Black Flag, DRI, or Suicidal Tendencies? No Butthole Surfers? No Cure or Depeche Mode?

But some talentless hack like Janet Jackson's on the short list?

Makes me wanna puke!!!

As long as it continues to be a popularity contest based on who sucks off Jann Wenner the most/best, you will continue to see subpar acts be inducted year after year.

The Smiths aren't in?

I just assumed. Now I'm sorry I read this thread. I am pissed. Lol

Green Day is in? And while they are not Seattle but are from same time frame as Pearl Jam or AIC? Is Nirvana the only Seattle band that made it?

That is the exact problem. Couldn't have stated it better myself.

I was thinking more in the lines of who would play. I don't know when a band gets inducted who all is credited.

He gets credited a lot with a title of first lead singer but I guess I always assume Circle Jerks.
