I don't understand the Yoko comparison

care to elaborate more Heady?

Are you saying she's talent-less like Yoko? Bc you would be wrong

Are you saying she "broke up the band"? Because TTB is fare superior to the DTB

DTB allowed DT to shred some which is an aspect noticeably absent TTB historically. However, i will admit that within the past 1-2 years, DT has been able to take the reigns more than he was 4-5 years ago and it is certainly improving but nowhere close to what he had the room to do in ABB, which would be ideal.

Susan is a snoozebomb and cripples Derek's ability to play during shows. It's painful to watch.

Then why is he a better guitarist now than when he was in DTB?

I take ability = freedom in this instance, which is true, but has been improving and I haven't seen TTB in about 9 months so maybe they have continued to loosen up a bit.

Also I liked DTB - saw them once or twice and have a couple live shows that I still listen to occasionally. Nothing groundbreaking but it was a fun band.

I would assume it would have to do with experience & practice. It certainly doesn't have to do with Susan preventing him from showing his talents each night.

It has to do with branching out into other styles of music that he had previously not had much experience with.

Well that goes without saying.

DT runs/directs the band, so I think he plays however he wants. When you go see them, watch everyone take their cues from him. He will just glance at someone, including Susan, and they react. DT and Susan acknowledged his leadership role in a joint interview I heard.

I was a a fan of hers before they joined up. She has a great voice and is no slouch on the guitar.

When we saw TTB here a year or two ago, DT did not seem to be holding back. He had plenty of kick arse long solos.

What other styles? From what I can tell every song is Susan whaling for 70% and DT playing a bluesy solo for 2-3 minutes. Not a lot of branching out imo.

I really wanted to like them because I love Susan and I think Derek is one of the best guitar players but I don't love them together. I think it's the 70's sound of the band that I don't love. I like more of the Allman Brothers style.
