As Baton Rouge embarrasses itself yet again with Bayou Country Superfest, let's take a look at the storied history of Tad Gormley Stadium in City Park,New Orleans. Its list of bands that have graced the venue stacks up with the best.
The Beatles (1964)

Allman Brothers Band (1972)
Eric Clapton (1974)
The Ramones
Pearl Jam
Rage Against the Machine
Tool
Bob Seger (1976)
Peter Frampton (1976)
Marshall Tucker Band (1977)
Zebra (1983)
Leon Russell
Vanilla Fudge (1968)
ZZ Top
Aerosmith (1975)

So let me get this straight. Arguably the largest city in the US for music gets more music than a city less than an hour away?
Pretty mind blowing stuff right there Heady

Yea NOLA is cool, NOLA people. You don't have to be so self-conscious about it all the time, people are aware it's a cool city. Congrats on Zebra and Marshall Tucker playing at some stadium in your super awesome city you need to constantly remind everyone of all the time.

big acts would stop at the PMAC instead of going to that smelly rat infested shithole down south, and then to to Houston or Memphis or ATL, depending on the direction
My dad saw Jethro Tull, Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones, Elton John, Frank Zappa, etc at the PMAC

LSU's PMAC has had all the great bands.
quote:
Former District Attorney Ossie Brown led a campaign in 1982 against rock concerts in Baton Rouge after the drunken exploits of an overzealous crowd at an AC/DC concert in the River Center was publicized.
Brown convinced the Metro Council to pass a prohibitive tax on large music productions, which applied to concerts in the PMAC and the River Center and crippled the ability of local venues to be attractive options for national production companies

You mean to tell me that New Orleans has a historically better musical pedigree than Baton Rouge?
No way. Seriously. I dont believe you. Shocking. Wow.
