Favorite album of 2015. It is a beautiful album even though the content is so depressing.

Yep. I saw him on the Carrie and Lowell tour at the Saenger back in '15. Man it was a beautiful show.

Sujan - Carrie and Lowell
Father John Misty - I Love You, Honeybear
Kendrick Lamar - To Pimp a Butterfly
Jason Isbell - Something More Than Free
Miguel - Wildheart
Grimes - Art Angels

Some really nice releases in 2015, the first 3 mentioned being incredible.

Its a good album but not one I can turn on very often. I prefer his other stuff. I hope he does something more upbeat for his next album.

Coincidentally, I listened to it today. I still love it. His show at the Saenger was amazing.

I saw him at pitchfork this past year briefly.. I walked away laughing... He had wings on.. wings... and xmas tree tinsel hanging from his arms..

Ive heard some decent pop songs from him, but in general, it's not for me...

I listened to a few songs on this record after all of the praise here.

The music was good, and also interesting.

The voice I found to be unremarkable and grating. Combined with the subject matter, the songs as a whole came across much like a lot of the music recommended here: depressing and heroin inducing.

Carrie & Lowell is titled after Stevens' mother and stepfather. Carrie was bipolar and schizophrenic and suffered from drug addiction and substance abuse. She died of stomach cancer in 2012, but had abandoned Stevens much earlier, first when he was 1, then later, repeatedly ("when I was three, three maybe four, she left us at that video store," he sings on "Should Have Known Better").

Though enjoyed Carrie & Lowell, like others mentioned, between Stevens unenjoyable voice and the heavy subject matter, I don't find it enjoyable elegant sad sack fare like say The National- High Violet..

Courtney Barnett's 'Sometimes I Sit & Think' was my fav of 2015..just a fun flowing album of catchy tunes..and impressively spunky debut.

"Put me on a pedestal and I'll only disappoint you
Tell me I'm exceptional, I promise to exploit you
Give me all your money, and I'll make some origami, honey
I think you're a joke, but I don't find you very funny…"

I had pretty much written him off and probably won't dive into the rest of the collection but I did enjoy this one
