Sound quality was definitely "muddied" even in the lower section. Saenger could hire 2-3 more bartenders at each station. Lines were ridiculous. That being said, the show was fantastic. You could definitely tell Sturgill was sick (friend runs the spa at a big local hotel and told us he rented out the steam room all day.) The backing band was his best friend tonight because they brought it. Big props to Sturg for powering through the set...Dude is definitely the real deal.

Sound was definitely bad up top. If you didn't know the words you couldn't even make out what he was singing.

on during the last or second to last song of the night. Which was a first for me.

Sturgill asked during Call to Arms. I think he wanted to see everyone. They were slow to get them on after the request

He hasn't been doing encores has he?

There was definite pause before the team felt OK grabbing the gear.

Up front the sound was pretty good. I really had no complaints minus the drunks, back and forth to the bathrooms

He's been doing encores. Idk why he didn't last night. Maybe the sickness had something to do with it.

Not sure what happened with that. Before walking off, he threw guitar in the air, threw his hands up and it looked like he said "frick y'all".. Maybe saenger cut him off?

playing a Sailers guide from Start to finish was so legit.

My wife also thought he said "frick y'all" after tossing his guitar and while walking quickly offstage. I thought it was "frick yeah".
The band sounded great and I only had trouble hearing the vocals. I think that had more to do with Sturgill's illness than the Saenger sound quality.
Big props to S and his incredible band for powering through and still putting on a stellar show under less than ideal circumstances!

My wife is totally confident it was "f y'all" too.
I think if he hadn't been sick we'd have gotten 20-30 minutes more music.
We were also front row right.

Keyboard player was the biggest surprise for me. He killed it. Laur and the horn section were excellent just as I'd expected.

I was close enough to hear him and sounded like "frick yea!" But I can't 100% confirm that.

I read it as being happy they killed the song

They did crush that Call to Arms closer which is why I thought thowing the guitar and shouting "frick yeah!!" was the exclamation point.
I was almost glad there was no encore cause topping Call to Arms would probably have been impossible.

Great, great show. Sturgill is the real mccoy, and he appreciates the machine behind him. That band is legit.

Do you know when tickets go on sale? I couldn't find it on his site or the Acadiana Art Center's site
