I guess greatest hits albums are not part of this discussion, right?

That's sort of how I envisioned this going. Because that's really cheating. Most of the greatest hits albums are indeed greatest hits off of every album.

When I was coming up you had the buy the whole album, so you learned every word of every song. If you were lucky, the lyrics were printed on the sleeve.
