i remember there was a hot chick with short cropped hair dyed white holding the album and i think i just stopped and stared for a good 10 seconds while the song played over the store's speakers.

I´ve been biting my tongue during the previous three mentions.

Tune didn´t make the cut on their first album, and was a B side.

The US/it´s fans, made How Soon is Now famous (it was played at all the cool bars and nightclubs here in the early/mid 80´s), subsequently forcing Smiths management to stick it on their second LP, Meat is Murder.

Many similarities with Radiohead´s Creep (in terms of the value initially assigned to the song by those who created it).

Don't Follow - Alice in Chains

The entire Nutshell album is a collection of haunting songs, imo.

how about Psychopath by Lisa Germano

I defy you to get through 10-15 seconds of this (once you realize the 911 call in the background is real and the woman was viciously raped).

starting at 1:38

I had a complete brain cramp. Was referring to The Queen is Dead album (one of the best albums ever recorded), which How Soon is Now obviously was not on.

Really? I don't get haunting from Zero 7 at all. I get a very relaxed, chilled out music.

Here's some more to add to my original Ryan Adams selections...

Junip - In Every Direction
Junip - Without You
Junip - Don't Let it Pass

I agree, however Meat is Murder charted much higher.

Go figure.

I consider a lot of Damien Rice's songs haunting, especially the live versions with Lisa Hannigan.

9 Crimes

And is that alright?
Give my gun away when it's loaded
That alright?
If you don't shoot it how am I supposed to hold it?

That alright?
Give my gun away when it's loaded
That alright? Yeah, with you?
