I haven't written anything in about two months, but last week I got on to something I'm calling "Pearl of a World." It's just a series of observations about the world around, but I'm liking it and enjoying working it up today on my new guitar.

Sample lyrics:
this world preaches optimism in the flesh of night
god created everything so everything's alright
but next time there's misfortune, we gather 'round in prayer
forgive me if i say "amen–is anybody there?"

And so on ...

Anyway, are there any other writers out there who are working on something that has promise, a project that looks like it'll end up a song worth adding to your song book?

Title? Subject matter? Sample lyrics?

There's hardly anything better than writing a song you like to play, amirite?

My ode to LBGTQs

Well my Daddy's name is Peter
And my Mom has one too
If you ask her nice
She'll whip it out for you

Well she went and joined the circus
But they would not let her swing
way up on the trapeze
Wavin' round that thing

Chrous:

Cuz she's a Unique gal
she's a Unique gal
she's a Unique gal
Let her show you how
she's a Unique gal
she's a Unique gal
she's a Unique gal
Oh Yea

Well she used to be a pole vaulter
On the High school track team
But when she planted her pole
She'd make them boys scream

Now she shakes it for the football team
When they cross across that goal
She shakes it for the Basketball team
When it dribbles down her balls

Chrous....

A sensitive subject--but your thoughtful, sensitive lyrics are sure to strike a chord in the hearts of your audience. Great emotional depth and impact--well done.

The 5 song EP my band's been working on is finally finished (last night actually), but we haven't released it yet. If ya'll want, I can post a link to it on here when all's said and done.

I've got about 3 other songs that I'm in the middle of writing.

This is my bands first record, finished late last year.
We've been writing new material and hope to head back to the studio later this summer/fall.

We play 70's style hard rock with some punk and metal influences.

We would love to swap some shows. Our calender is wide open on account of trying to finish this ep and me getting married next month.

I have some really rough and outdated recordings on our Soundcloud, but I assure you, the ep sounds much much better, haha.

My brother and I have written several songs.

Here's a song about a friend of ours who died from a rare disease.

I ONCE KNEW A MAN

I once knew a man who fought for his life
from early each morning 'til late every night.
He fought the first year and on through the next.
He fought 'til he died and we laid him to rest.

So many people just don't understand
that a man who is right fights as long as he can.

I'll think as I please and speak what I feel.
I know what is fake and I know what is real.
What's right for me could be so wrong for you.
What one time was fact is no longer true.

Love is the answer to everyone's dream.
Life is not always as long as it seems.
Change will come with the passage of time.
Life and death are two close friends of mine.

As you wander from dawn until dusk,
just spend all your moments with those that you must.
And those that treat you as if you're no good,
spend no more time with them then you should.

Keep each moment as if it was sacred.
Guard your freedom 'cause it's all that you've got.

And if life's secrets are hidden from view,
don't look around 'cause they're all within you.

I once knew a man who fought for his life
from early each morning 'til late every night.
He fought the first year and on through the next.
He fought 'til he died and we laid him to rest.

So many people just don't understand
that a man who is right fights as long as he can.
Love is the answer to everyone's dream
and life is not always as long as it seems.

Change will come with the passage of time.
Life and death are two close friends of mine.
Keep each moment as if it was sacred.
Guard your freedom 'cause it's all that you've got.

And if life's secrets are hidden from view,
don't look around 'cause they're all within you.

Here's another song we wrote about accepting the unknowns that you will encounter in your life.

DARK LADY

Walking down that lonesome highway.
Going nowhere but I'm getting there fast.
Took a turn down by the water.
I got there first but I'm leaving there last.

Black horses on a barren meadow.
White cranes on a mound of mud.
Echos of your hidden whispers
turn their backs on the setting sun.

Dark lady gonna take you home.
Then I'm gonna show you
just how much I love you.

Dark lady gonna take you home.
Then I'm gonna show you
just how much I love you.

Cold wind blows by the graveyard.
Dark shadows fly beneath the moon.
Two riders met at midnight.
The first came later and the other came soon.

Bad blood flows in the courtyard.
Passion flowers in a pearly white hand.
Summer's breeze blowing over the ocean.
Spreading sunshine all over the land.

Dark lady gonna take you home.
Then I'm gonna show you
just how much I love you.

Dark lady gonna take you home.
Then I'm gonna show you
just how much I love you.

Time past became the future.
All things remain the same.
Love bruised another victim.
A wise man leaves what another man's claimed.

Shot down in a moment of glory.
One wins while the other one drowns.
Doors open upon the passage
that enters into the kingdom of clowns.

Dark lady gonna take you home.
Then I'm gonna show you
just how much I love you.

Dark lady gonna take you home.
Then I'm gonna show you
just how much I love you.

Sweet voices appear in the distance.
Soft kisses from a light in the dark.
Love's arrow travels on music
despite the fact that it pierces your heart.

Young lovers caress in the Springtime.
Along with those who love in the Fall.
Know life's one simple message.
A life alone is worth nothing at all.

Dark lady gonna take you home.
Then I'm gonna show you
just how much I love you.

Dark lady gonna take you home.
Then I'm gonna show you
just how much I love you.
