Lots of standing in places where you can see 1/8th of the stage.

Type of crowd?
Depends on band. The regulars? Douchey.

Parking?
Weak. You'll most likely have to walk a few blocks from where you park.

Neighborhood?
Warehouse District

Somewhere between meh and mediocre and occasionally brings in really good acts.

They have a several pillars around the floor that really get in the way of the stage if you end up near them. The audio has always been good for me throughout the venue though.

Noticed that in some of the pictures. I had also read some comments about crowd "douchiness," so I wasn't surprised to see that, either.

Thinking about going to the St. Lucia show on Sunday night. Guessing the douchiness factor will be a little less because of the act and day?

Would really like to if it weren't for the Sunday show the same weekend.

I saw many metal bands there back when it was The Howlin Wolf. I have only been once since its been Republic and that was to see ICP. The crowd was pretty trashy.

Wait. Republic used to be Howlin Wolf? Man, it's been a long time since I've been there. Saw The Afghan Whigs there circa 1997. Don't remember pillars being a problem.

Yes, Howlin Wolf moved to its current location after Katrina.

I just feel the need to mention the numerous large oak columns that block the stage.

Saw some good shows there back in the day ie De La Soul but haven't been much since it went republic. I hear people get stabbed there.

The only show I have seen there was Team Sleep with Strike Him Centurion. Fantastic show and a good friend of mine has a condo like a block away, so that was nice. Drive past that place on a normal night, though, and it is d-bag central.

Yes
It seems the only speakers are on stage and in front of the pillars, so unless your infront of them (200 people), it is not that loud.
