September 9th in Pop History!

On this day in 2003 the group OutKast dropped their single Hey Ya!.
It stayed atop the Billboard Hot 100 for 9 consecutive weeks and went Platinum!
Unfortunately OutKast fell off hard and hasn't put out a good single since. It's saddening seeing a talented group like that all washed up.
Hard to believe this was 10 years ago, I hope I didn't make yall feel old.

If you're going to start these threads, then do them complete and cover all of pop history, not just about the stuff you listen to

Otherwise just start one of your usual threads

Also it had to be pretty hard to try and make a better album than that. That album was one of the best in that decade.

Roses came out after Hey Ya

Plus why are you talking shite about Outkast anyway?

Don't you have some new terrible rapper to start a thread about somewhere

Roses and The Way You Move were nowhere near as monumental as Hey Ya though.

I'm not going to do your fricking work for you

Either start a pop history thread or an Outkast thread.

they were still BIG hits, so for you to say they were basically a one hit wonder is just idiotic

Washed up indicates they have been releasing mediocre material, which is false. The last two tracks featuring them as a group were "International Player's Anthem (I Choose You)" and ""The Art of Storytellin' Part 4"" which are both incredible tracks, the former being a contender for an all-time hip hop track.

Also, on Sept 9 in music history:

1941 - Otis Redding was born.

1956 - Elvis Presley made his first appearance on the Ed Sullivan show "Toast of the Town." He was shot from just the waist up during the performance

1971 - John Lennon's LP "Imagine" was released.

1972 - The Eagles' "Witchy Woman" was released.

1978 - "Beast of Burden" was released by the Rolling Stones

1999 - Nine Inch Nails performed at the 1999 MTV Video Music Awards. It was their first-ever appearance on a televised award show

Contrary to many internet reports, the internet isn't serious business. I'm not worried about what "someone should do" in their posts, and it doesn't factor into what I post.

So OutKast didn't have monumental songs before Hey Ya!? You are misinterpreting, or you're ignorant of their history.
