Really good band. They seemed to be having fun up there even though they played a festival set in Houston today and then made that shitty drive up here to dallas. The venue tonight is a free place so lots of people there that just want to chat and drink. By the end of the
night, Futurebirds had won a lot of them over.

I've seen them a few times, and dig them. Nice loud catchy rock music with great harmonies. Their album Hampton's Lullaby is full of great songs, and I listen to it often.

Although, they get a little loose in the live setting. They get loud, sloppy, and distorted at times (think early DBT shows). And they also party as hard as the crowd does. That isn't very conducive to rock/folk songs driven by harmonies.

Conversely, I saw them out at Bonnaroo one time and they were on their best behavior. They played a killer show. I think they knew that was a big moment in their career, and probably the biggest crowd they've ever played for.

With all that said, I haven't seen them since their drummer left the band. I thought he actually had the best voice of the whole group. I loved his song APO on Hampton's.

I think that is a positive for a band. I find bands that sound like their albums boring.

The main singer was drinking Lonestar but no one else up there was drinking. Their harmonies were spot on.

Well that's good to hear. I wish them the best. I'm looking forward to hearing them with the new drummer.

Pretty cool to hear that. I saw them at One Eyed Jacks back in '09, when they opened up for Dead Confederate, and enjoyed them a lot. They were pretty rowdy.

I've recently rediscovered their music, and really dig their stuff, and would love to see them again to see how they've matured and evolved.

Love the Futurebirds! I've seen them twice this year in Winston-Salem. Would love to catch them at a hometown show in Athens.

I saw Diarrhea Planet open for them a couple years ago, but left after a song or two...

They are playing a free street fest this weekend with Shovels and Rope, Mikal Cronin and Lydia Loveless this weekend.. I'll pay them more attention.
