Ok, I have listend to 85% country from the mid 80's and before for the last 3 to 4 years. Everything else has been cajun music. I grew up with the old country songs, but I have grown to love them in a whole new way. I am now trying to add some new music with that old country sound to my music library. What artists should I look into?

Yes, I am asking for new artists who have a traditional country style. The opposite of Luke Bryan, Florida Georgia line, etc. artists similar to sturgill Simpson and hank iii

Sturgill Simpson immediately comes to mind. You won't be disappointed.

Older sound:

Jamey Johnson
Sturgill Simpson

Not older sound - but still good - new country:

Chris Knight
Texas country artists like those posted above
Brent Cobb

It's not an old sound, but I like Eric Church and Will Hoge. I think both write good music.

Let their streaming music player go on for a good while. You'll end up hearing a ton of great red dirt and some unknown guys sprinkled in.

Also check out their calendar and google or youtube the acts they have booked or have coming up.

here's some of the guys I've grown to really like

Shane Smith and the Saints
Whiskey Myers
Red Eye Gravy

Some Ozark region based acts that you might like.

Ben Miller Band
Mountain Sprout
Shawn James and the Shapeshifters
Little Chief
3 Penny Acre

Check out the Jason Stringfellow Band, he's a buddy. They do mostly Texas dates these days.
