I really enjoyed his performance in Birmingham last night. I heard he was a huge a-hole in concert but last night he was totally cool and man, what a talented guy.

He's chilled out in the last 10 years. I think he had addiction issues that he's overcome and seems to enyoy touring and making music now.

He has definitely toned it down in recent years. Saw him at the auditorium on SMU's campus and it was a fantastic show. He is easily one of my top 5 favorite artists ever. I'll buy anything he puts out without question. Sorely underrated IMO, but I prefer it that way.

If it was the SMU show from December '14, he was fantastic. Great set list and making jokes, especially the impromptu Cowboy Chicken song.

Yep that was the one. One of my favorite concerts.

I seriously get a little choked up when I think of the transformation that guy has undergone in the last decade or so. He went from what appeared to be a miserable, depressed human to someone who seems to really love being alive these days. He could have very easily offed himself.

Ryan just played Newport Folk Fest backed by the Infamous Stringdusters. Set is cray. Bluegrass covers of Black Sabbath and Slayer as well as a goofy improv song. Good stuff that really shows his versatility as well as how deep he dives into genre.

He did. He actually ended up playing it. He and Bryan Adams also had a bit of a twitter bromance for a while.

Here's his cover of Summer of '69. It was actually done at the Ryman where the infamous heckling incident occurred like 12 years prior.
