Saw him last night here in Chattanooga. The man has lost absolutely none of his playing ability. His band is now a 3 piece with him doing a little of the singing. The vocals are not very good by him or the bass player but that is not why you go see him anyway. Very underrated guitarist. Much more to him than just the "white Hendrix" which is how he was perceived back in the day. The man can still bring it!!! Very enjoyable night even though I feel like crap today.

Saw him a few years ago in B.R. (Texas Club), he tore the place up. Been doing it for many years and still one of the best. He is underrated and under appreciated. Listen to the Bridge of Sighs, one of the great 70's albums.

Yeah, James Dewar was a hell of a vocalist. Bridge of Sighs is a criminally underrated album.

Upvotes for all of you.

I really want to see Trower. Man has such fantastic tone and he can still play.

I love Opeth as much as about any other band on the face of the planet, but technical musicians attempting to replicate a 'feeling' or playing style on par with guys like Trower, Hendrix, Vaughan, Santana, etc., often leads to a surefire failure.

I was there. Davey Pattison was doing vocals then. Very close in sound to Jim Dewar. Shame to hear he's not doing it anymore, he sounded great. Of course he's 70 years old so...

Just listen to this --less than 3 minutes

Used to cover this back in the day. Trower's tone really is unique.

I love playing that one. Key to it is learning that thumb-on-fretboard trick at the end of the riff cycle.

Dewar was really good. For me any Trower is good, check out Victims of the Fury, solid solid solid

Long Misty Days is a great album from beginning to end too. For some reason I did not have it. I do now and it is a monster. Title track in my opinion is Dewars finest vocal with Trower.

Seen him 3 times at the Texas club over last 20 years. Always a great show. Got a chance to meet him briefly after one of those shows.

He recent released a new Album of Classic Blues cover songs. Roots An Branches. Pretty good stuff, I'd recommend it.
