Wife and I are trying to ditch the kids for a weekend.

Little Rock is only 3 hours away and Riverfest looks interesting with a nice price.

Stapleton plus more playing Saturday June 4.

Any of you planning on going or have feedback on the general event?

I'm thinking about doing the same thing. I'd like to see Chris Stapleton, Grace Potter, and St. Paul and the Broken Bones.

I've never been before so any tips from those who have would be appreciated.

edit: I noticed that Stapleton and Flaming Lips are playing at the same time. I'm probably in the minority but I would like to see both of them.

I was there for Ringo's All Star Band. There's a nice little market to stroll through with food vendors too.

Hotels are mostly booked up downtown with an exception of a couple. I didnt figure this was that big of an event but I might be mistaken.

Id also like to catch Matt Stell playing at 1pm on Saturday

Give yourself plenty of time to park and get a decent spot to watch the show from. The problem in years past is parking and crowds. LR just isn't set up for this festival very well, and the crowds are insane. I fully expect this to be a record year for it as well. Lots of rednecks in cutoff shirts will be seen at the Stapleton show. book it.

I'm not familiar with the festival, but I've seen St. Paul and the Broken Bones twice. They do a great show. Do yourself a favor and watch some YouTube videos of them to become familiar with their songs if you choose to go.

How's the weather there? I was in Little Rock earlier this week and the local news was concerned about the weather screwing with Riverfest.

Im back in Bossier now, but the weather actually turned out great yesterday.

Got there at 1 and it was pretty humid with no wind, but no rain.

Came back at 5 and it felt much better, a few clouds with nice wind. Only sprinkled rain for about 5 minutes around 7PM and that was it.

We got there about 3:30 and didn't try bouncing back and forth between stages.

Loved The Sheepdogs. I was glad I got to see them live.

The Brothers Osborne pretty much began the influx of bro country fans.

Grace Potter was fantastic as usual. I just wish she would have played more of her older songs.

We stayed through about half of Stapleton's show and couldn't take his crowd any more. Everybody around us was an a-hole. So we went to the other stage and caught the end of the Flaming Lips set. Loved it and had a much better time there.

Got to see a solid Widespread Panic tribute band at the Revolution Room on Friday night so that was a bonus.

I got very lucky that I was surrounded by adults where we sat at. We sat in our chairs at 5:30 along with everyone else around us and luckily the crowd stayed the same.

We were just behind the street that ran across the main lawn.

There were some trashy motherfrickers in attendance though. The most that I saw were thugged out white guys.

Had a good time though. I was skeptical at first but everything worked out
