He's been borderline dead for years now. Not a huge surprise.

Damn RIP

Pretty crazy to even make it to 70 given his infamous levels of substance abuse, particular in regards to speed and whiskey. A truly original voice. The Ace of Spades

There is no easy way to say this…our mighty, noble friend Lemmy passed away today after a short battle with an extremely aggressive cancer. He had learnt of the disease on December 26th, and was at home, sitting in front of his favorite video game from The Rainbow which had recently made it’s way down the street, with his family.

We cannot begin to express our shock and sadness, there aren’t words.

We will say more in the coming days, but for now, please…play Motörhead loud, play Hawkwind loud, play Lemmy’s music LOUD. Have a drink or few.

Share stories.

Celebrate the LIFE this lovely, wonderful man celebrated so vibrantly himself.

HE WOULD WANT EXACTLY THAT.

I found a porno mag on the side of the road once in the early 90s. Had lemmy in it squeezing boobs. That's how I found out about motorhead.

with all of the speed & whiskey he did throughout the years, I'm surprised he made it as long as he did. he didn't just talk the rock n roll life--he lived.
certainly one of the most recognized men of metal. never changed his style for the sake of making a buck.

He wasn't above being in a cheesy one hit wonder 80's video, either.

Amazing that the guy made it this long. He probably did more in a year than most people do in a lifetime.

When he first starting having health problems a few years back, he stopped drinking a bottle of Jack every day, switching to a bottle of vodka for health reasons.

The man was so hard core that he made everyone else look like a poseur. One of the defining figures of both metal and punk. Lemmy is god.

I like the part in the Lemmy movie when he advised everyone not to do coke....but do speed instead because it's better for you.

I love him and will be hoisting several today in tribute...but Motorhead sort of sucks. Oh, I like Ace of Spades and all. Actually, my favorite album was their one from 1991 - 1916. "No Voices in the Sky" is a great tune.

But mostly their catalogue was unlistenable. I say this as a heavy metal junkie.

Not a founding member, but he was an early member. He was fired after getting busted at the U.S.-Canada border for possession of amphetamines.

Motorhead was named after the last song Lemmy wrote for Hawkwind.
