I'd give it 5 mics.. Maybe top 5 but I can think of plenty better and more influential.

ETA:

Kool Moe Dee is obviously at the top Link
KRS-One's " South Bronx" #2

In any order:
Eminem's ended a few careers with " Girls" that pretty much destroyed Limp Bizkit's entire career. " Nail In the Coffin" ended Benzino and " I Remember" ended Everlast.

Tupac's " Hit 'Em Up" is probably the most personal and violent.

Eazy E's " Real Muthafrickin' G's" sent Dr. Dre on a few year hiatus.

Ice Cube's " No Vaseline" lead to the decline of N.W.A and launched his career.

Jay Z's " Takeover" single handedly won his beef with Nas.

If you consider Biggie's "Who Shot Ya?" a true diss track it's probably the best. Big absolutely kills it with his flow and lyrics.

How about UNLV's Drag Em In The River?

One of my favorites up there with Hit Em Up and Real Muthafrickkin Gs.

Most people would say Dre Day was better, but I alway thought Real Muthafukkin G's was a better diss record. It was better because Eazy E spit facts about Dre and had the photos to back them up.

This. And it's not even close. Dre Day was made for a studio album and incorporated Death Row going after other rappers as well.

Classic. The Common-LL Cool J beef was fun but it really had no impact on hip hop as a whole.

Eazy was only attacking Dre in Real Muthafrickin G's which makes it a classic. But if you want to look at his album "It's On 187um Kill" as a whole. "It's on" attacks Death Row and is lyric gold.

And Eazy in essence ended the feud with this masterpiece from "Ole School shite".

Jealousy is a muthaphukka when your the man
with the upper hand I don't give a shite
clock a grip like no other can
wanna be like me be a G like me
but I'm the Ni-gga that made a G
outta the Bitch D-R Eazy
I was the captain
Dre was my sidekick
everything was cool
till he wanted to get what I get
any other real G Eazy-Muthaphukkin-E
now claimin' you a G
how does it feel to be me?
