His new album With Love From Brushy Mountain is phenomenal. Like competing with MetaModern Sounds for album of the year good.

Deadman's Blues

I might actually like Brushy Mountain better than metamodern sounds.

Idk it's real close. They're both phenomenal. This has been two EXCELLENT years for the genre

Haven't had a chance to listen yet. Is this more Sturgill or more Americana?

Not quite as traditional country as Sturgill Simpson. He leans more towards Americana but this is still very much a Country album

That's just lamestream country lyrics, melody and vocal syncopation wrapped in a slightly rougher image. Really bad.

That first song is good once you get past the awful production and even worse video. Bet he's great alone with a guitar.

The second video is just him alone with a guitar at the heavy metal shop in salt lake city.

I thought it was a great video for deadmans blues though

I don't see how that's fitting at all.

Now I will readily acknowledge that its probably not for everyone and that it just does it for me but there is literally not a single thing about it that is remiscent of modern mainstream aka "lame stream" country music...... At all.
