Smashing Pumpkins---Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness is also another great one that you can listen to from beginning to end.


It's awesome for long road trips imo. Album has such a wide variety of types of melodies on it. In the mood for something mellow....got it, harder edge to it....yep, etc., etc.

Excellent choice, lsu 2006--I was thinking of listing it myself until I saw your post.

The Byrds are my favorite all-time band, so I have a strong bias. Here's another Byrds album, although it's actually part of a two-album release:

• The live LP on the "Byrds Untitled" album. It features the best Byrds musician lineup, and the live, extended version of Eight Miles High is high explosive rock at its best.
