In a competition between Phish and Widespread MFn Panic, who would you rate as the more annoying of the two?

Upvote for Phish and downvote for WSMFP

I'll start. It's a tough one, but I think I have to go with Phish simply due to the clever starved spelling of their name and that PETA wants them to be called Sea Kittens.

WSP. At least Phish acts like the care about their fans. Browncat is one of the worst run organizations I've ever dealt with.

WSP also has more annoying superfans, though that race is tight.

PHISH vs WSMFP

This is only brought up on a message board based in the south. Phish is a worldwide phenomena, and about to break the record for most shows at the world's most famous arena. They reached unrivaled live musical heights in the 90s via transcendent improvisation and superior musicanship.

WSP is a glorified frat band. This comparsion shouldn't even be made.

pretty much a couple of frat boys getting high in the garage and strumming strings for 3 hours and calling it "songs"

One band jumps on trampolines while mumbling pop jam.

I'm curious why you think it's poorly run...

WSP sounds good when they are jamming until JB pulls the rip chord and cuts them off with his singing.

Phish sounds like shite even when they "jam", which is mostly composition anyway. Plus their fanbase consists of custy bums like HeadyBrosevelt.

WSP music and yams are definitely the better of the two.

Figured as much. To date, that is the first I've heard anyone talk shite about Browncat.

same here, but I've heard plenty about Phish and the mess they've got going. Everything from hardcore lot police to black balling artist. They certainly seem more anal about things than browncat.

Their mail order in the 90's was a long-running joke.

Maybe they've improved. I stopped seeing them when Mikey died.

You should see them again. They've really got a good thing going right now with Jimmy. They are certainly different than mid to late 90s era with Mikey floating folks to wah wah nirvana on that lingering lead. Nothing stays the same after the death of a key member, such is life. I'm sure their mail order has improved since too, cause internet and shite.

I ask that question to myself. I don't know what to do. Chin is rested in my hands. I feel like I'm on 42.

I had to go get the office beta to translate that shite. He said phish offers more to hate, proceed as such.

Pass. I haven't liked what I've heard of Jimmy Panic, and I'd rather not sully my 90's and early aughts memories.

This is the best explanation I can give: growing up The Allman Brothers were the jam band of choice. Grateful Dead was played a lot too but ABB took the cake. In terms of modern music I like to use that example to why I like panic over phish. It's not a contest of who's more talent but rather I like the sound of panic more. Panic exemplifies southern rock/blues more so than phish. Granted granted GD has more folk roots than phish does jazz fusion, it's the easiest way to explain why I like panic more. Certainly not a knock on phish, I've had great times at their shows but panic just satisfies on a whole different level for me personally.
