Grew up a classic rock fan, but heard this song recently for the first time in years. Love the vocals, lyrics and arrangement.
Powerful.

Dug back and found some other great R&B cuts like Smiling Faces, For the Love of Money and Freddie's Dead. What are some other similar songs from that era I can add to my Playlist?

I love early 70's soul/funk and the Temptations Papa was a Rolling Stone is one of the best songs of all time IMO.

Sly and the Family Stone - If You Want me to Stay

You can't go wrong with lots of Sly or Parliment of course.

Kool and Gang - Hollywood Swinging
Curtis Mayfield - If There's Hell Below (lots of his stuff too)
Bobby Womack - Across 110 Street
The Dramatics - Get up Get down
Higher Ground - Stevie Wonder

Really check out the Dead Presidents Soundtracks

Vol 2

Withers..... Vastly underrated and his Carnegie Hall live album is good stuff. Ain't No Sunshine is my favorite song of all time
